Of Places and Moments is a celebration of the art of field recordings. The tracks to be included utilized recordings from the Sounds Found Project, a repository of user-contributed field recordings. The source recordings were mangled, manipulated, abused and violated, in some cases beyond recognition, to create 18 distinctly different interpretations ranging from minimal drone, to noise, to electronica.

A ideia do álbum “Dos Caminhos do Velho Mundo” consiste num roteiro de poesia de Portugal à Rússia, para cada país um poema de um poeta dessa nação. Foi escolhido Portugal -Hilário Borges, Espanha -Miguel de Unamuno, França -Alfred de Musset, Alemanha -Jakob van Hoddis, Republica Checa -Rainer Maria Rilke, Polónia -Adam Mickiewicz, Bielorrússia -Yanka Kupala e Rússia -Alexander Blok. Além do conceito já referido, este trabalho denota a evolução musical de Z.O.T.E. as músicas mais low-fi (dos inícios) contrastam com as músicas mais recentes, algo propositado de forma a que se represente a nossa evolução e a nossa forma de composição feita pelo puro improviso e sem qualquer influencia musical directa.

The idea for the album “Dos Caminhos do Velho Mundo” is a roadmap of poetry from Portugal to Russia, for each country a poem by a poet of that nation. Was chosen Portugal -Hilário Borges, Spain -Miguel de Unamuno, France -Alfred de Musset, Germany -Jakob van Hoddis, Czech Republic -Rainer Maria Rilke, Poland -Adam Mickiewicz, Belarus -Yanka Kupala and Russia -Alexander Blok. Besides the concept mentioned above, this work shows the evolution of Z.O.T.E. the musics more low-fi songs (from the earlys) contrasts with the latest music, something purposeful so that it represents our evolution and our way of composition made by the pure improvisation without any direct musical influences.

At long last it is finaly here; the successor of no-r-mal the first edition. Almost a year later down the line, but highly improved and filled with more goodies. Started on April 25th I would never have thought that this would grow as big as it did. Many bulkloads of work went into getting this compilation album out there, but it is out there now!
71 artists, 71 tracks have turned into a 6 CD!!! compilation album making for over 7 hours of listening pleasure. Today I give this to the world so that you may enjoy the sounds of some of the worlds great netlabel artists that all work somewhere in the field of experimental music. Neatly organized into 6 different atmospheres: Warm voices, Dark places, Strange paces, Ca-dance, Art sounds and Outta here.

Take your own moment and meander through these tracks that have all been laboured with love!

Like Stream69, Kris Cadwell also revisits the JNN-catalog with a successor to his first album ‘Offerings’ (JNN070). Another beauty and indepth look into the sound of a visual artist exploring not in paint or color, but in tone.
The diversity of this artist is remarkable; at times this feels very Boards of Canada when he can also change his cloth and create a beautiful deep field of drones and beatfree song. Kris certainly shows his wardrobe and wears it in style.
We’re very happen to welcome him back to Just not Normal. And as for you; why not dip into this soft and wonderful realm that somehow only a visual artist can conceive.

The second collaborative work from Alexander Kibanov to appear on Just not Normal and the shortest album thusfar to have appeared on JNN as well. But length never says anything about quality or its lacking off.

Born June 6, 1992, Alexander Kibanov is an experimental music artist and composer from Antarctica. He has released under various pseudonymes (such as Earth Incubator, Headless Kamikaze, Illnathix) over one hundred of solo and collabarotive works (with many artists as diverse as GX Jupitter-Larsen, Kenji Siratori, Alexei Borisov, Cisfinitum, Napalmed) mainly on cdr and casettes over the world.

“Alien Tongue” presents two live performances by Emerald Adrift. The first piece, “Hatchling,” was recorded during a live broadcast on the StillStream internet radio station on November 1, 2008. “Abandoned Amusement Park (Gone To Weeds)” was another live StillStream performance, broadcast on March 14, 2009.

After the projects : HALLER: (industrial) and: SINCLAIR: (ritual): RETREAT: is the third project of Ronny Jung from Leipzig, Germany.
It is the reduced project and yet deliberately omitted for ornamentation.
It is intended to look for rest and relaxation pose. the quiet in the noise.
The name:RETREAT: is program.
On this album were mic’ed recordings of singing glas, didgeridoo, small metal bells and larger porcelain bells and torn paper were used as raw material.
The process of working is very experimental and not compositional.
It is researching what one can.

Celebrating the 50th release on JNN I’ve invited some of the best (netlabel)artists from around the globe to join this massive compilationalbum.

In total 52 artists joined to create the finest in what is available in experimental music these days. Much of what you hear is unreleased work with the exception of a handful. These tracks have been carefully mastered and put together to present to you a 4 CD epic journey into sound. Together with the artwork the puzzle lies ahead to find out what exactly is ‘normal’.
