There was an interview the other day in which, if I remember correctly Phillip stated that he was going to concentrate less on the experimental free releases. Well since you are reading these words here you are clearly recognizing that the great Phillip Wilkerson has yet done it again. Right before your eyes is the latest experimental release from Phillip that can be regarded as a blessing for your wanton ears. If you’ve heard some of the previous JNN releases by Phillip I can but say, the man is taking it all a step further, another step deeper into the sounds and mechanics of these sounds. Particle is a treat and it should be welcomed to your harddrive with honor. Thank you Phillip for creating this and sharing it with the world through JNN.

Another album that was sent to me early March. But it was untill I’ve started preparing this album that I fell deeply in love with the sounds and atmospheres here. As the title of the album suggests, much of its content is based on ice, and no no thin ice in here, but thick and most wondrous layers of ice will subdue you into a parallel world of cristals and frozen water.
When at one point the world may have lost its icecaps there will still remain the memory through sound. My suggestion; dive deep into this spectacular release of beautiful tones and lovely tapestries of delight.

“Für die Soundaufnahmen standen verschiedene Gläser, die mit unterschiedlichen Mengen Wasser gefüllt waren, auf einem Tisch. Diese Gläser wurden zum Klingen gebracht. Die dabei aufgezeichneten Töne wurden geschnitten, gefiltert, modifiziert und zu Tonkollagen verarbeitet.”
Translated:
“For these soundrecordings several glasses fill with different amounts of water stood on a table. These glasses were trembled; the recordings of which got cut, filtered, modified and molden into a soundcollage.”

For the longest time I’ve admired the works of AAGSF very much. AAGSF or in the longer version: Aliens A Galactic Sound Flanks hails from Moscow Russia and has to date released many a beautiful album on the Russian RusZud netlabel. I am not sure if he has released outside of RusZud a lot, but let this moment be one for you to get acqainted with the subtle and deep works of this sound meister.

The matter cannot appear and cannot disappear. As also project AAGSF was always. Sounds of novel galaxies, civilizations. AAGSF a heritage of global infinity. Each track – is direct contact since 2005. AAGSF – mysterious noise the project from Moscow (Russia)

JNN083 Cezary Gapik – Vol. 43

Cezary Gapik (also know as CEZAR) was born in Czestochowa, Poland in 1963. He started his musical activity in 1980 as an animator of punk rock bands. Soon enough he discovered new sounds which were brought by the punk rock rebellion. Cabaret Voltaire, Public Image Ltd. or other “new wave” bands had an enormous influence on the perception of music by Cezar. Plunging into the fundaments of musical avant-garde (Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Luc Ferrari, La Monte Young), the appearance of new creative possibilities (computer) together with the works of artists like Mick Harris (Lull, Scorn), Illusion of Safety, etc. had definitively shaped the musical direction towards which Cezary Gapik follows. His musical creation is based on drones and micro-tonal sound planes interlaced with abstract “images” (field recordings) or computer-processed synthetic sounds (glitch).

Vol. 43 expresses a lot already since this truly is his 43rd release. Many free releases by Cezary can be found scattered on numerous netlabels, but for this volume Just not Normal is proud to host this sound-master. Take your moment and dwell in the realms that lie hidden neats the sounds. As Cezary himself expresses on his future plans: “there is still a lot of unrest in my soul which I desire to transform into sound”. That we may enjoy his works eternaly.
